Chapter One : Part Two
The routine had been the same as it was everyday, for as long as he could remember. Aki returns the smile and inches up to meet the Demon’s lips with his own. Twenty years, he thinks, the routine has been the same for the past Twenty years. It made him happy, Jenova made him happy. The Selestarri moves under the heavy covers to straddle pale hips, carefully combing snow-white plaits with his slender fingers. Claw tips scrape lightly up his back and to the shard of Gioa crystal embedded between his shoulders, causing Aki to gasp. It wasn’t too long ago that Jenova had… come to an understanding with Ikkairius. The crystal he held, (or more accurately, that held him), was responsible for his long life. The Demon had hoped to use this benefit of the Artifact in order to keep the Eclipsed by his side forever. Having the resources and ability to unlock most of the crystal’s secrets, Jenova was able to give that information in return for safely extracting a piece for his own use. The process of embedding was painful, and left the area directly over and around the Gioa shard highly sensitive. Ikkairius was quick to warn him that this would not fade much over time and would have to be one price of many he would pay from the fusion. Jenova, of course, used this sensitivity to his advantage, as he used everything, and would often use it to keep Aki writhing under his touch. The Eclipsed didn’t really complain. The two linger in bed for a while before rising to begin the second part of their daily routine, training. The Demon had trained him hard over the years, constantly pushing his limits above and beyond what he thought impossible for anyone of his race to accomplish. Even so, Jenova still went easy on him as far as his own ability was concerned. Aki’s skills had become such that he and Saiyuri could have friendly “battles” without him getting too terribly hurt. This often kept her occupied and out of trouble when she would visit her sister, so the Demon never discouraged it as long as Aki was safe in the end. The two developed an almost “friendship” through this over the years. The Eclipsed was still warned never to trust her. He almost-always heeded Jenova’s words carefully. The hard training also gave him the confidence he needed to feel as if he could stand by Jenova’s side of his own merit. He was always learning, but he could at least handle his own against the more formidable… acquaintances… the Demon had. Aki also used his knowledge to keep Fanuel in check whenever Fuan wanted to see him. The ornery Angel had gotten accustomed to his artificially induced Higher status over the years and honed in on many of his abilities. Luckily, Jenova knows every way to counteract them, often leaving Fanuel very frustrated with his presence as Fuan’s security. He’s still amazed at how many times the Angel can skirt death with his help yet he never shows an ounce appreciation. Fuan bides his days with Tien Jen together at the shrine. The two humans growing closer every year they are together. The Eclipsed can often see that Jenova is pleased with the former Angel’s happiness every time they see each other. Before they begin, Aki makes his way down to the kitchen for breakfast, nodding to Ikkairius, Megumi and Kazuya as he enters. Once it was discovered by the Other Half of Jenova’s creator that the human Megumi contained the soul of his Daughter, a pact was made that allowed the Demi God access to the mansion as long as he behaved. He had done so, as much as he really can, until a few years ago when he and the Other one just disappeared as Jenova mentioned they are prone to doing. Megumi and Jenova had been married some years ago, but in name only. She wears a ring he gave her for appearances while the Demon only wears the counterpart to the one he gave the Eclipsed years ago, in addition to whatever bands he happens to like at the time. Kazuya took over as the family guardian of sorts once Jun finally broke the Angelic seal and made his own life outside the mansion. At age Twenty-eight, Kazuya has become a very responsible adult and makes sure his sister is always well taken care of. Aki smiles at Crane, who had his own section of kitchen now. While the GodBeast may not be especially fond of Jenova, he adores cooking for others and so happily does so for all members of the household and guests. Ikkairius is… Ikkairius, he changes little over time, which is rather reassuring in it’s own way. Thanks to the Ancient Selestarri, he has gained much knowledge he otherwise would have never had the ability to learn, or knowledge that Jenova would have just never told him. He will forever be connected with Ikkairius because of the Gioa crystal they now share, but he didn’t think the Ancient Bright minded too much. Aki found himself proud of that fact that he was one of the few Ikkairius tolerated to a friendly point, possibly actually liked. The Eclipsed finishes his coffee and waves to the four before heading out to the grounds to finally begin his morning training for the day.
