Ish’talla Side
Andr'ial and Ati'yya

Chapter 02 : 06

Guests begin arriving slowly, Sirens of various ages and colors in tow. All masked and bound and all beautiful. Hir’itel greets each guest individually as In’irda stands beside him bowing and showing them into the lavishly decorated main hall. The golden haired Siren does as is expected of her until a familiar carriage rides up to the front. She cannot help what the sight does to her and it takes all she has to not run in fear. Hir’itel puts a hand on her arm to comfort her as his father exits the carriage with his own Siren. The purple haired female dressed beautifully but the weariness very clear in her slitted eyes. She stays obediently on the older man’s heels, following every step he makes with practiced movements.

“Father.” Hir’itel greets him as he enters, knowing his own Siren is working hard to maintain her composure.

Carn’itel looks around with his unimpressed blue gaze. “Better than last year, but still lacking…”

“Your observations are, as always, irritating.”

The older man frowns, his gaze moving from the room to his son to In’irda, where a small smile forms soon after when he sees the golden haired Siren cower from him. “Is that any way to speak to your father, the one who gave you your lovely companion? In fact, feel it may be time I borrowed her again as it seems you are too soft with her. She cannot even stand at attention in front of your guests.”

“Father, please…” Hir’itel looks away. “She’s terrified of you, and for good reason. Let me do as I choose with her.”

Carn’itel steps forward, grabbing In’irda’s collar and pulling her towards him, the Siren shaking in fear almost immediately. “Not terrified enough, it seems.” He laughs as he releases her, watching as she cowers behind her master, before walking off to join the rest of the growing group.

Hir’itel turns to In’irda, allowing her close and placing a reassuring hand on her. “I will do everything in my power to make sure he does not touch you. You have my word. But the evening is far from over, I need to you maintain appearances for now.” The Siren nods in acknowledgment, still shaking slightly as she moves back to his side, readying herself to greet the next guest.

Blue slitted eyes remain locked at a cascade of long silvery hair, each step she takes sending the bells lacing her body chiming and echoing softly in the long winding hall as she follows behind Andr’ial who keeps a steady but slow pace before her. The farther they move down the emptied corridor, the louder the sounds of many other voices begin to grow. The frown deepens beneath her mask as she gracefully trails close behind, trying to ignore both the lingering pain of the brand at the back of her neck and the growing nervousness for the events to come.

In’irda has said that he will protect her throughout this night, that the mark she’s received will prevent any others from touching her and she’s hoping that all of those words prove to be true. Andr’ial has handled her so gently… even when she was hurt with the brand he’d still held her close and at this moment that kindness is a lifeline she desperately needs. Soon she will be surrounded by more of his kind chaining and binding more of her own.

She does not want to see it and it is taking everything she has not to simply turn around and bolt away from those voices that grow louder the closer they come to the end of the winding hall.

Andr’ial nods respectfully to a few familiar faces as he enters the main hall with Ati’yya in tow. Hungry eyes wash over her frame and he does his best to keep her mainly hidden behind him. This was going to be difficult. A man approaches from behind, out of the corner of his eyes the horned man sees him, immediately whipping around to pull Ati’yya close.

“I honestly never expected to see you at one of these things Andr’ial.” The overweight man steps in close, running his orange, pupiless eyes over the blue haired Siren, causing her to shift uncomfortably from the gaze. “Beautiful specimen. You normally never see the new ones so healthy.” He lifts a fat hand, reaching out to lift her chin when it is swatted away and Andr’ial steps between them.

“Please, Ti’ifital, with all due respect, she is newly branded and has had enough hands on her today.”

Ti’ifital snorts at the reaction, turning away when his own Siren returns with a goblet of wine for him, barley acknowledging the red haired female as he snatches it from her hands and she moves back to his side with her head bowed. “She’s a glorified dog, Andr’ial, not a piece of glass. These creatures can handle more than you realize. They are even more resilient than we are.” He laughs before his gaze returns to her curves. “You’re going to get quite a few generous offers for her, perhaps you shouldn’t have had her branded so soon.”

“And every offer will be turned down, she is not for sale.” The horned man begins to turn away, pulling Ati’yya with him, when they are joined by two more, a lavishly dressed woman with a pair of ivory horns spiraling from her head and her orange haired male Siren.

Her purple eyes move over Ati’yya with an approving nod. “She’s beautiful Andr’ial. It’s about time you joined us in the ranks.” She turns to her Siren. “Isn’t she pretty? I bet you’d love to play with her for an evening.” The male Siren’s gaze mirrors everyone else’s as orange eyes travel over Ati’yya. Hungry, wanting, filled with desire for such a pretty creature. He nods readily and his owner smiles. “See? Even Mh’hiiya thinks so.” She moves in close to Andr’ial, putting a delicately clawed hand on his chest. “And I think I’d like to watch, how about you?” Her painted lips move to meet his and he pulls away immediately, causing her to frown.

“Out of the question. She will not be touched and neither will I.” The horned man turns away from the group, wrapping his robe around Ati’yya protectively as they walk away.

It’s all so immediately overwhelming to her, and she can’t help the silent relief she feels as she’s pulled away from the female of Andr’ial’s kind and her male Siren. All around her are chained, masked and bound more of her own and yet the many eyes of her captor’s kind look upon her as if she were the only one standing in the room. In those eyes she’s sees want, lust, desire and much more and she’s reminded suddenly of the time he’d first pulled her from her home… that ship and those men with their blank, lecherous gazes that made her feel as dirty as they appeared to be themselves.

There are so many gathered in various lavish modes of dress as the silver haired man is with so many Sirens decorated and masked as she is now masked. When… did this begin? When were her people first caught by his and enslaved in this way? She has never known that this world had existed and now she finds herself wondering how she’d gone so long in her innocence with a simple life that contained only the suns above her, the waters below and the winds whipping through her hair, completely oblivious to this foreign land and these foreign people who have stolen all that they have.

She doesn’t want to see this anymore because it hurts her far too much. She doesn’t want these eyes on her or the hands that continuously try to reach out and touch her skin. But she knows from what In’irda had told her that the night is far from over and so she glances up to the man that holds her so close to his body, finding a sense of calm in a sea of turmoil for the protection he is brings which is enough for her to at least attempt to endure.

“I’ll give you a half a million plus your choice in homesteads for her, nephew.”

Andr’ial stops in place and closes his eyes, knowing precisely who the voice belongs to. He sighs in annoyance, pulling Ati’yya around to his front and turning his head to face the one behind them. “She is not for sale, uncle.”

Carn’itel laughs. “Funny. But I know your financial situation after obtaining her and I also know you are lacking in funds, plus that little castle on the ocean doesn’t suit someone of your status, Andr’ial.”

The horned man turns around, his white eyes immediately focusing on the weak, beaten down Siren at his uncle’s side, even more weary than he remembers. “Why do you do this to her?” The purple haired Siren’s glassy gaze doesn’t even acknowledge him, she’s only focused on standing immediately by Carn’itel’s side as if her life depended on it, and it probably did. Andr’ial finds himself unable to hide his feelings of disgust, turning Ati’yya towards him to hide her from the sight.

A look of anger flashes over Carn’itel face. “I will do what I want with my property as it is my property.” He grabs his Siren’s chain and yanks her up, her expression not even able to convey pain as she seems all too used to the treatment. The older man closes the distance between them, moving in close and staring Andr’ial down with unamused eyes. “I can have your dog removed and put down so I suggest you cooperate.” A smile that does not extend to his eyes crosses Carn’itel lips. “Or you can let me borrow her for the night and we can forget about it entirely.”

He reaches out, grabbing on to Ati’yya’s arm and is about to pull her towards him when Andr’ial’s claws form a vice-like grip on the older man’s wrist. The horned man’s fangs bare slightly as he speaks quiet and low. “You will unhand her immediately or I will remind you just why my father was the chosen son and not yourself. If you choose to bring politics into this I will bring my sister’s army crashing into your home. If you would prefer I embarrass you on your own land, in front of your own son and the rest of high society, then by all means, continue. Otherwise, unhand her.”
